Therapeutic Bodywork

Modern Nature Bodywork offers two forms of soft tissue work: Structural Integration and Fascial Stretch Therapy™.

Most bodywork focuses on muscles. Structural Integrationists focus on the fascia and myofascia, a less well-known but crucial part of your anatomy. The fascia plays a key role in the body, modulating the way force moves through the body. In other words, the fascia is involved in every movement, every breath, and even every thought, as well as the health of your blood vessels, nerves, organs, joints, and muscles.

In a Structural Integration or Fascial Stretch Therapy™ session, you’ll experience a powerful soft-tissue treatment that directly addresses problems in your fascia, helping to reduce chronic pain, correct alignment, and improve the way you feel.

I have a passion for education—for myself and for my clients—and as a result I’ve kept myself at the cutting edge of fascial therapy research and clinical application for over two decades. Having been a nurse earlier in my career, I value an evidence-based approach to bodywork. However, it was my personal experience of Rolfing™ (a form of Structural Integration) as a client that opened up a new world of ways to help people. In fact, I left the medical world so I could devote my professional life to using these bodywork skills to naturally and powerfully heal the body.

I completed my Anatomy Trains Structural Integration certification in 2004, training with Thomas Myers, the renowned author of Anatomy Trains: Myofascial Meridians for Manual and Movement Therapists. In 2012, I completed my Level II Fascial Stretch Therapist™ certification with founders Ann and Chris Frederick.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Carrie has successfully used her rather unique knowledge and experience in body mechanics (the interplay between bones, muscles, joints, posture, etc) and Fascial Stretch Therapy to relieve my pain and greatly improve my flexibility. Her thoughtful and caring “hands-on” approach (individual treatments and Yoga classes) has made a significant difference for me. I am now able to more fully enjoy cycling, snowshoeing, playing bass and even driving for long periods of time. I highly recommend her!
